With knees on necks and tear gas flowing,
citizens of color watch their rights continue narrowing
to an infinitesimal point. While the boys in blue we anoint
with qualified immunity in the hope that they'll act ethically.
But in the face of corruption, who watches the watchmen?
Who do they answer to? Another good old boy in blue.
This is no pretty collapse
There's riots in the street
This is no pretty collapse
They haven't learned a thing
This is no pretty collapse
It's a full-blown nation-wide catastrophe
With folks of color killed by those who've sworn to protect and serve our streets
With statements soaked in hate against our fellow countrymen,
what about the plan he raved could make us great again?
In three long years I've seen no proof he's made great a single soul.
Can he even see the country burn from the eighteenth hole?
Threatening violence from behind his baby gate
against brave men and women who just won't stand for hate.
This is no pretty collapse
It's a depressed economy
This is no pretty collapse
It's a Twitter cacophony
This is no pretty collapse
Military mobilized domestically
Just to quell those who'd stand and shout for what they believe
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill
He's spouting a ration of swill
Invoking the name of the dead
In an effort to get ahead
And without so much as a pause
His sycophants give a round of applause
There is no scrutiny
Just plain old demagogy
This is no pretty collapse
We're sick of the tragedy
This is no pretty collapse
Put this statement on repeat
This is no pretty collapse
We'll rally together to see your defeat
And render every last one of your ideals obsolete
